IT Coalition Reaches €1.85 Billion in Support for Ukraine’s Defence Forces

KYIV — The international IT Coalition supporting Ukraine’s Defence Forces has reached €1.85 billion in assistance during its first three years, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence.

Ukraine currently cooperates with 17 partner countries through the coalition, with Estonia and Luxembourg serving as lead nations.

Where the support is going

According to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the largest component of the coalition’s support — €728 million, or nearly 40 percent — has been allocated to broadband radio procurement.

The coalition also supports secure communications, cybersecurity, data protection, IT infrastructure, digital systems and the testing and deployment of new technologies.

Three years of cooperation

The IT Coalition was established on September 19, 2023 during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

Its initial participants included Ukraine, Estonia, Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, Latvia and Lithuania. The partnership has since expanded, and the ministry says Ukraine now cooperates with 17 partner countries through the coalition.

Digital infrastructure as a defense capability

The program illustrates the growing role of communications infrastructure, cybersecurity and software in Ukraine’s defense strategy.

Rather than focusing only on conventional weapons, the coalition supports systems that connect military units, protect information and enable digital command and operational tools.
