Ukraine is preparing a new round of meetings in the United States with international partners focused on negotiations, security and additional military support, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on September 16.
In an official address, Zelenskyy said the planned U.S. meetings would concern negotiations aimed at bringing peace closer as well as energy, food security and weapons.
New support packages
The Ukrainian president said new support packages for Ukraine are expected and specifically mentioned air defense.
Protection of Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure from missile and drone attacks remains one of Kyiv’s central security priorities.
Anti-Ballistic Coalition
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine is preparing to expand the Anti-Ballistic Coalition.
According to the president, the objective is to have a result ready this year that can be tested.
He said Ukraine needs an effective system that can be produced at sufficiently large scale and preferably at lower cost than many existing systems.
FREYJA program
Zelenskyy said cooperation with manufacturers and partner countries is progressing and that leading European companies capable of contributing to anti-ballistic defense are already participating in Ukraine’s FREYJA program.
The address did not identify all participants in the upcoming U.S. meetings and did not provide a detailed list of the expected military support packages.
Ukraine’s stated priorities
The official presidential statement identifies several priorities for the upcoming discussions:
- negotiations aimed at bringing peace closer;
- energy;
- food security;
- weapons;
- new support packages;
- air defense;

The announcement indicates that diplomacy and military protection will remain closely linked in Ukraine’s discussions with partners in the United States.
