KYIV — Updated October 7, 2026. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukrainian intelligence has obtained updated information indicating that Russia is preparing another large-scale strike against Ukraine.
The warning was issued in his evening address on October 6. Zelenskyy urged Ukrainians to pay close attention to air-raid alerts and said military, intelligence and emergency services were preparing for the threat.
What is known
Zelenskyy did not publicly disclose the intelligence indicators behind the warning, the expected timing of the attack or the weapons Russia might use.
Why the warning matters
Russia has repeatedly used combinations of drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles in large attacks against Ukrainian cities, energy infrastructure and military targets.
Analysis
The key issue is readiness rather than prediction. Public warnings can reduce casualties by encouraging compliance with air-raid alerts, but until additional evidence is released the scale and timing of any new strike remain uncertain.
